Ages passed by in mere seconds as Aiden peered into the impossible manifestation. As he pushed his hand up against the sandy figure’s, his mind was totally transformed. Like most humans of his time, his mind lacked any pre conceptions of spirituality and alien life forms. Humanity was ripe for something new, and he was the undeniable proof. He knew not what to think of it. Should he cry? Should he rejoice? Or should he cower in fear? All three options brought themselves before him, and he wept with a smile.

While it kept his right hand occupied with their ongoing gesture, the form reached out with their other hand and slid its fingers down his left arm. Grains of sand descended from the form’s hand and arm, and collided with Aiden’s suit as they fell to the ground in a constant stream. These impacts resonated throughout his suit, and enabled him to hear the resulting ambiance. Until this moment in time all he could hear were his own breaths and other bodily sounds. Hearing this new sound after being in his suit for so long, was like hearing music for the first time. Like a wave it passed over, and he shuttered as he was reminded once more of the realness of it all.

He noticed their fingers had stopped over something on his left arm. He raised it before him, and it made a finger that pointed to his transponder; located near his wrist. His mind hardly spared him enough room to think, but he came to the conclusion that it wished him to turn it on. As if it knew, the form withdrew its other hand to free his own so he may complete the task. While still questioning the entire experience, he complied to see what would happen next. He switched his communication device back on, and left it on an open channel. The form backed away from Aiden, but only a meter or so. Then the onyx grains of sand it was constantly harvesting to hold its recognizable shape, increased in speed as they were brought up into the body and then released. Soon the grains followed an ever more apparent path as they continuously flowed faster and faster. Aiden stepped back as the black molecules of sand violently passed from the surface and into the entity before him. A storm of black dust rose into the air around the being, and then a violent bolt of static electricity erupted into the sky. Even the thin atmosphere could not fully deafen the crack that immediately ensued.

After lowering his arms after the bolt of electricity had discharged, he saw that small flashes of light encompassed the form’s limbs and abdomen. They briefly shed their light upon the form itself and the black dust cloud that hung in the chilled air; the flashes were constant, and unending. A startling sound briefly deafened his ears as his transponder rapidly cycled various sounds of radio static, and then a low constant hum remained. He returned his attention to the imposing dark figure, and then all in unison, the flashes of electricity within it ceased, and the constant hum of the radio, silenced. With anticipation Aiden waited, for what he did not know. Then only a few seconds later his ears picked up the low hum once more, and then, multiple static flashes emanated from the form, as did a sound, a voice.

“Fear not, in me you have discovered an ally, for I am in your debt.”
