Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Entry 3: Arrival

For ten years the colonization fleet traveled through warped spacetime, making a few stops along the way. The journey was mostly a success as there were few incidents hardly worth mentioning. The crews and their captains did well to follow procedures, and kept alert and ready for anything. Such dedication for a decade is nothing to glance over without paying some respect. For most humans this would be a test that few could pass with flying colors as they did.

When they finally arrived in the Mira system they did so with astounding precision. As they came to a stop they found themselves entering the orbit of Novus, their final destination. The planet boasted a wonderful array of colors. The large lakes that dotted the surface were as blue as the earth’s sky, and vast blooms of the algae like plant life streamed throughout these lakes as bright green ribbons. Lastly were the bright orange deserts that covered most of the northern hemisphere, Mira’s magenta starlight bounced off of these like a mirror.

Preparations were immediately made for the first colonization efforts. Ships began delivering supplies to their chosen destination, which was a sight to behold. The location of humanity’s first structures on the surface were near the base of a mountain. Down this mountain a large stream of water flowed, feeding into a nearby lake. Little by little, more and more colonists arrived at their new home. It would be another four earth months before nearly every colonist had made their way to the surface of Novus. It was, after all, the first time humans had set foot on another atmospheric world where no space suits were required to keep one alive. Thousands of tests were performed to ensure there was no danger to the human body. Some medications were required of course, but nothing serious threatened the livelihood of the colonists.

It was a beautiful new beginning for the Earthborn humans. They had left so much behind, and yet brought so much with them. They brought passion and love, courage and dedication, and the foresight to build a new society that would leave behind the flaws of Earth as they saw it; if only they had kept their guard, so much would’ve been different.
